Commuter rail transit is coming to Westminster, Colorado! The Denver Regional Transportation District (RTD), as part of its FasTracks corridor project, plans to begin rapid train service between Westminster and Denver in 2016. In anticipation of this transit service, the City of Westminster has initiated a planning process for a 135-acre area surrounding the station, with the intent to transform the area into a vibrant, mixed-use Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) district. This TOD Area comprises the land between Lowell Boulevard and Federal Boulevard to the west and east, and 72nd Avenue and the rail corridor to the north and south. The planning area also includes the Little Dry Creek basin to the south of the rail corridor, which is planned to become a 40-acre community park with ample recreation and open space amenities.
